Jillian and Kevin were very surprised with the arrival of their first son, Leonardo. He was six weeks early when he was born on Saturday, May the 4th and spent almost two weeks in the NICU. They had been home just a few days when Jillian contacted me for availability and luckily I had a spot available last minute to get them in for an in-home session. At the time of the session he was 20 days old, normally outside my range for a posed session but with him being a preemie I was fairly confident we would still capture some great sleep-baby posed images.
They opted for a full session, she wanted to emphasis his size considering he had already grown so much being in the hospital for so long. They also wanted to include their first baby, a 6 pound Yorkie named AC Slater.
For the family portion of the session we focused both on their bedroom and nursery. The bedroom had great natural light and was very AC Slater friendly with his own personal stairway to the bed itself.
I absolutely adored Leo's nursery since it was very much about who they are and where they are from - The Big City. Jillian is from New York and Kevin from Boston, they met during undergrad school at Boston University and still go back to visit frequently.
When I asked them where the name Leonardo came from I expected a family name, maybe a super Italian grand-father? But nope, they wanted that Yankee heritage to just be about the name and I think it's absolutely perfect.
