It's no question that 2020 has NOT been the greatest year so far...
But for Sydney and Zach this isn't the first time they've had to reschedule or cancel their wedding. It's been a long road, but through it all they have outlasted every bit of it. And I don't know about you, but to me that tells me they are going to have a strong marriage.
When Sydney told me they were coming from Pittsburgh that was my first indicator that I really wanted to meet them. My boyfriend is from Pittsburgh and a huge Pittsburgh sports fan so this is always where I can geek out and connect with guys on a similar nerdy level. But then she also told me that their cruise wedding from earlier this spring had been canceled and this was a chance for them to get the pictures they always wanted- I was totally in. I can't imagine the amount of stress and disappointment that brides and grooms have faced this year and I knew they deserved the very best.
I treated their session much like I would any other beach session I have. Beginning on the dunes is always great to include the greenery, the sky, and then bringing a blanket for some cute sitting poses. Basically we want to include everything that involves the dry sand first before we move on closer to the water. During sunset sessions we also have a progression of the beach getting less busy which is also ideal. It's easier to dodge the background of people by starting in the dunes areas first and then working our way to the water as people pack up and head out for the day.
Sydney's dress was absolutely stunning and I can't believe she has held onto this dress for TWO YEARS without being able to wear it. As a woman I can't even imagine that amount of stress in having to maintain my wedding figure - LOL. Their original wedding was planned for a vineyard, their second was a cruise and finally ended up on the beach. I could easily see this gown in any of those places. It was absolutely perfect for her.
They surprised me by bringing along some bourbon and wine, their favorite adult beverages, and something they shared as a couple. This was perfect for them as their original plan was at a vineyard and they both absolutely loved touring and tasting.
And finally, it wouldn't be THEM without some fun. We had to include something ridiculous in their session because after all, this is a couple that told me they don't actually do a whole lot of PDA and actually like to laugh and just have fun.
Congratulations Sydney and Zach!
