So happy to have met the McPhee Family here visiting from their home in The Bahamas. They got to celebrate their wedding anniversary and enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having this fall. I wanted to show them the amazing variety we have here in the South of Broad section, and I should say, they picked the perfect color scheme of outfits for downtown.
There isn't a ton of spanish moss in Historic Charleston, but White Point Gardens does have some iconic looking oaks and those leading lines when looking down the length of the park. It's one of my must start or end spots when doing this section of downtown, because you might as well have that lush green variety in addition to your historical spots.
I should mention that I do pick my specific route for downtown based on the timeframe of the session. So for the McPhee Family, since we were doing later afternoon closer to sunset I love the Meeting Street route for it's textures, neutral colors, and of course the window boxes.
When looking for a pop of color, The Three Sisters of Charleston is a perfect spot. I LOVE the iconic iron gate, and the three colors here are perfect to pair with just about any attire for complimenting or contrast. This spot is ONLY good in the afternoon time frame since the sun is right here during the morning and day hours.
Atlantic at Church Street
This spot, is without fail, one of the best in Charleston for portraits. I absolutely adore the variety you can get at these cross streets so I shoot here often. We have the window boxes, the texture of that historic plaster and brick, and church street is actually brick as well so it makes for a perfect wide walking shot. I loved seeing this family open up and giggle with each other, and I loved being able to showcase Keva and Kenue since they were celebrating their anniversary.
As a quick final stop on their Full Story session, Keva requested we find some stairs for one more sitting shot. This lovely pink backdrop is right at the corner of Atlantic and East Bay and has some fantastic shade and highlights during the afternoon and evening hours. It was the perfect endcap for our session in Charleston.
The McPhee Family's Full Story session from start to end was about 45 minutes and included (as you can see) TONS of variety. Their gallery included close to 80 final edited images!! I'd say we had a successful afternoon for sure, and I hope they enjoyed their walk around the block!
