Shawn and Lyndsay are expecting... a boy!

Shawn and Lyndsay are expecting their little one in August and rented a house on Isle of Palms for a little baby moon getaway before his arrival. This house was just a block from the beach and perfect for them to enjoy the tranquility and quiet before their whole life changes. Lyndsay was actually referred to me but a friend of hers who used me just a year ago for extended family portraits at sunrise, you'll find them somewhere in this blog, too! That said, Lyndsay already knew all the benefits of sunrise and was totally ON BOARD! You know this made my heart happy, because I love sunrises and for maternity they're so much more relaxed and less sweaty for the moms to be.

What better way to celebrate this milestone than with a baby moon maternity session?

We were graced with such an amazing sky for their sunrise session on Isle of Palms. They stayed towards the south end of the island so there is a lot less foot traffic there, with the exception of the morning doggie strolls of the locals. This part of the beach as really great dunes, and the wind always seems to be blowing in just the right direction for some flare and drama. Like most moms to be, Lyndsay was nervous about borrowing a dress from my client closet, worried it wouldn't fit her new body and growing belly. But once she got on the Athena she was blown away with how amazing the fabric felt and hugged her curves. The mermaid fit is flattering on everyone for maternity because it really showcases what we're all here for- That baby bump! And even for my average or bigger than average moms, it stretches to fit all the shapes of your body in the best way. Well that, and I know how to pose ya, right? ;) The other great thing about this dress is its flexibility for being worn in the mermaid style, or with that mermaid round worn up around the belly to give more of a flowy look. It's like a completely different dress and all we did was hike up the bottom around her belly. Now she was able to walk in the water and really let the wind to it's thing to give movement.

This next dress, the Katya from Baltic Born was actually a last minute pull by yours truly. The other dresses that Lyndsay had selected were darker tones, not exactly what I would have pictured on the beach. She chose the others based on colors she was used to wearing, and there isn't anything wrong with that. BUT, I know that every mom needs to wear white, too. Something about this angelic look on the beach is just an eye grabber and it ended up being the perfect match. The sleeves and shorter style were a hit and I mean, she pulled off some very model like looks in this dress. It was absolutely perfect for the mood and lighting once the sun peeked over the clouds that morning. So I guess what I'm trying to articulate here is - TRUST ME! I always have your end result in mind so as long as you can give me as many details about your size and style preferences I will take that, bring what I have, and style you fabulously.

All in all, I hope this has inspired you for your baby moon! Take some time to reflect, enjoy each other's company and of course sleep and relax before your little one joins the family!

Huge shout out to Lauren Hall for the before dawn hair and makeup stylings. You can find her work here on Instagram.
