I had the pleasure of meeting Laurel and Joseph downtown along East Bay Street of Historic Charleston on Memorial Day weekend for their maternity session. They were on their baby moon from Tennessee for the weekend, Laurel told me they visiting often and she always knew she wanted her maternity session to be here.

Since we started at sunrise, approximately 6:20 am we started along the battery wall. This is a spot downtown with no shade so the best time to shoot their is early morning or before sunset. They never said they wanted any images here but I'm so glad we started there because of the MAGIC we witnessed.

There is something very magical about working downtown at sunrise. Aside from it just being you, your clients and the joggers, it's just peaceful.

From there we took my typical route of up East Bay towards Rainbow Row. In the morning the way the light is just peeking in is truly amazing, it's not too harsh and it's still golden. Because it was literally EMPTY downtown I was able to shoot in spots I would never normally stop myself... The in the middle of the road to capture this stunning shot.

Once we got to Rainbow Row Laurel told me she really wanted to focus a lot on the "Blue House" since they were having a boy. The colors in the morning light are much more saturated. This is where we concluded our session for their Maternity Mini downtown.
